Unexploded ordnance (UXO) and landmines are found in every country on earth and in some of the most unexpected places. Landmines can often be found in unmarked areas or can be washed out of marked minefield areas by floods and rivers. Explosive hazards like these will often lie undisturbed for years in remote areas, that can be completely forgotten by the rapidly changing local governments. Often these remote areas are where new pipeline development or exploration of new resources occurs. This means that oil exploration companies building pipelines and refineries can often find themselves with severe project delays when an explosive hazard is suddenly discovered after the planning stages of the project.

Target Laser Lock Missions Capability

During this flight the Drone was given instructions to fly to several way points. While performing this mission the Marine observers designated a target with a laser which was approximately 1500 meters from the drone’s location. The Drone received the targeting information from the laser at which time the drone suspended its original mission and proceeded to the new target. Upon arriving at the target it maneuvered into the exact location which had been designated by the laser (autonomously) and then dropped a payload exactly on target from 119 feet. The drone then returned to its original mission which it completed and then it returned to base and landed (all autonomously).
